Gothic lockpicking
Lockpicking Skill Tiers
Skill tiers change how confident you can be during lock attempts, but careful mapping still matters when plates are linked.
Plan a safer sequenceBeginner tier approach
For early locks, solve with shortest strategy and keep examples simple. Avoid adding links unless you clearly observe them.
Practice reading P1 through P4 before moving to larger plate counts.
Intermediate tier approach
At five and six plates, the link matrix becomes more important. The safe strategy helps prefer less aggressive tie breaks.
Save locks locally when practicing a repeated route so you can compare new observations against earlier notes.
Advanced tier approach
Seven and eight-plate examples benefit from fewer-switches when you want to reduce control changes.
Use the timeline to verify state after each turn, especially around opposite links.
